Australia Post Record Breaking December Caps off

With the Christmas period now behind us, Australia Post can proudly reveal that December 2017 was the busiest month in its rich 209 years history.
"We made more than 37 million parcel deliveries in the four weeks leading up to Christmas, that’s almost 20 percent more deliveries per day compared to last year making 2017 our biggest festive season ever," said Bob Black, Chief Operations Officer and Executive General Manager, eCommerce Delivery.
"On average our drivers and posties made more than 5 deliveries per household across Australia, making it a huge team effort.”
Online shopping purchases in Australia also grew 15 per cent in 2017 compared with 2016.
There were a range of delivery options available for our customers, including:
· Weekend deliveries and extended trading hours
· Parcel redirections
· Parcel pick up directly from our facilities
· Safe drop, which allows a resident to nominate a safe place for parcels to be left at their property when they are not at home.
These, along with our other collection offerings such as 24/7 Parcel Lockers and PO Boxes helped ensure we delivered for our customers this peak period.
Congratulations and thanks to our customers making the 2017 peak period the success it was!
